Tandra Page 1081, February 28, 2010

Delta still.

Last week’s page simply brought Delta back on stage. She has been missing far too long.

It also seemed advisable to provide me, “Hanther”, with a means of survival on the hostile world that is Tandra.

Make no mistake, I am no swashbuckling David Galon. I don’t even rank with survival prone Linc Barintine. I’m just a middle aged guy who draws a sci-fi fantasy adventure page. However, the first page (Tandra Page 949) of this on line weekly release continuing story insisted I have been to Tandra for an extended visit. Delta is the reason I lived to tell the tale. Linc Barintine also has something to do with me not getting promptly removed, but we shall get to that part later.

As stated in last week’s commentary, Delta was conceived as something of a free spirit. She does not have a political agenda. Her only purpose in life is to enjoy being Delta. That is not to imply she has no awareness of what transpires in the world about her. Lord Kilthane, ruler of the Wizard Ring (long story) was her brother, her disapproving brother as it happens. He did not hold with her self indulgent life style. Delta was, for her part, aware of the methods Kilthane employed to maintain his power. She also knew of the methods of various rulers of the scattered city-states over the surface of Tandra to retain hold over their subjects. Nor is she ignorant of the methods Earthly tyrants embrace to maintain their rule. When she says, “There is no crime a politician will not commit, no obscenity he will not embrace to increase his power,” Delta is speaking from first hand knowledge.

Which is not to say Delta has immediate plans to take up arms in support of the revolution.

Delta remains Delta, concerned most primarily with her own enjoyment of life. She remains isolated enough from the rest of her world she can pursue her own course and not worry if the various city-states and empires about go to hell in a hand basket. But that does not indicate she has no awareness of the worlds about her.

And while she advocates a policy of non-involvement with the tyrants at her doorstep, should they be irresponsible enough to cross the line and bring danger to her isolated estate, you could see a different side of Delta, a side that might certainly cause those who were so thoughtless as to provoke her to have decisive reason for regretting their rash acts!

May the sun always shine on your parade!

Next Week; “Political Humour”

Tandra...more than escapist fantasy, it’s a revolution!
