| Ah, yes. Delta. She first appeared in the ink on paper graphic album, “The Alpha Men”, on Tandra Page 412. (This tale is available from our Tandra Store in the ink on paper TPB “Double Exposure. Get it now while supplies last!) She was the first Tandra personality Galon and company met when he returned to Tandra after having gone to Earth to get medical help for Danene who had recently given birth to a girl child fathered by Galon. (Long story, get the book available from...etc.) I’m not certain of Delta’s conceptual origins. The split colour probably came from the Star Trek television episode featuring warring factions divided by race. Both sides were light on one side and dark on the reverse. One of the races had dark on the left and light on the right, split evenly down the middle. On the opposing race the light and dark were reversed. In all other ways the two races were identical. That was the point. The outsize ears were probably from a comic book of the time titled “Elfquest”. I believe it is still being done in some form. Check the Internet under Elfquest dot com for information. You’ll like what you find. I gave Delta no hair to make her more exotic. It also happens I knew a woman at the time who had no hair, or very little, on her head. She did not think of her condition to advantage. She hid herself under a wig. Delta was designed a Free Spirit, a designation that had some meaning in 1980. A male fantasy exists of a man possessing a harem filled with beautiful women, all for his personal pleasure. I simply reversed the male/female roles. Delta had a stable of men all reserved for her pleasure. She was also Lord Kilthane’s sister and caused him no end of displeasure at her pursuit of sexual adventures. Like Kilthane, she was a synthetic creation, meaning her physical appearance is of her own choosing. But, while Kilthane was constructed of gears and levers, Delta is synthetic flesh and blood. From the beginning, Delta wanted Galon in her bed and she was not subtle about it. But Galon had other loyalties and went his own way to Delta’s annoyance. She continued to appear in Tandra stories and remains one of my more popular characters. I can’t give a really good reason why it has taken almost three years to bring her back for the Weekly Update Series. I hope you like Delta as much as I do. She will appear more frequently now than she has in the past. May the sun always shine on your parade! Next Week; “Collateral” Tandra...more than escapist fantasy, it’s a revolution! Hanther |
