| For those who came in late, as writer Lee Falk was fond of saying in the syndicated newspaper comic strip, The Phantom, a bit of explanation is in order. Those regular weekly readers who have been following the story should need no explanation. When the Weekly Tandra postings began over two years ago, I explained with the first page I had not published new Tandra pages in several years because I had been either “out of the office or away from my desk.” Specifically, I had been on Tandra to see first hand what this exotic world is all about. (Tandra Brigade Members can refresh your memories by pulling up Tandra Pages 949-951.) I returned to Earth in less than the best of health and was recovering in a hospital when one Senator R. Miles Haggerty came by for a visit. Haggerty was knowledgeable of Tandra from events released in the Tremaine On Earth story (which is available from our on line store) and he wanted a full report from me for purposes of his own. I am not a supporter of the Senator and had reservations, but Haggerty was persuasive and I had returned from a Tandra that had fallen away from its star energy source, so I saw no harm in compliance with the Senator’s demands. What could the Senator possibly do to affect a world that now floats frozen in the darkness of space? I was introduced to Ms. Crimea River who was assigned to record my report. Haggerty had other things to do rather than listen to me tell about Tandra. Ms. River was less than enthusiastic about recording my observations, but she was employed by the Senator and followed his instructions and I began to tell about the characters I knew from Tandra beginning with the decision of Tremaine and Dragonrok to return from Earth to their home world as posted beginning with Tandra Page 952 and following. These are events following immediately after the ink on paper adventures published in the Tremaine On Earth story arc which I reminded you is available from the Tandra store. Some of you may have decided I used my dramatic return from Tandra and Haggerty’s demands for my report as a launching device for the on line Tandra weekly pages and would not refer to that sequence again. Oh, ye of little faith! The final panel of this week’s page kicks back to my report with Ms. River and portrays her surprise at hearing from me of a Tandra related event of which she had been independently associated by way of her job working for Senator Haggerty. Three panels earlier, Senator Haggerty is making contact with one Elbert Mollinberd who is a patient in a state correctional facility for the mentally deranged. Mollinberd is in the correctional facility as a consequence of his bizarre activities as a costumed vigilante as revealed (again) in the Tremaine On Earth package of ink on paper releases available from our store. If you don’t already have those books, you really oughta buy them. They answer so many questions that will come to you in the weeks ahead. Not that you cannot enjoy the new story without the background material, but the background makes the new pages much more satisfying. And, yes, I did say I went to Tandra to observe the world first hand I have been writing and drawing over a quarter century. How I came to visit Tandra for myself is an adventure you don’t want to miss and it continues in the weeks following. How did I have the opportunity to go to Tandra for real. Ah, that would be telling prematurely and we can’t do that, can we. But trust me, I did not take the train! May the sun always shine on your parade! Next Week; “Symbol Of A Nation” Tandra...more than escapist fantasy, it’s a revolution! Hanther |
